The alarm went off at 3 a.m. I had been awake for a bit in anticipation of it so as not to oversleep. Showered and down to the lobby of the hotel to wait for the airport shuttle. The front desk attendant said that it might be a bit late, but no worries. Easy for her to say. Did get to the airport in relatively quick time despite all the construction. Checked in and through security without an issue and went up to the Admiral’s Club to get some breakfast. It opens at 5 so we had a few minutes to wait. Breakfast and coffee acquired and headed down to the gate.
Flight left a few minutes early and we arrived in Chicago nearly 1/2 hour early. BUT, because of that, we toured the tarmac for 20 minutes waiting for a gate to open up. Headed to the Admiral’s Club there to use the restroom and get a glass of juice and muffin for Earle.
The plane to Seattle was absolutely packed and both Earle and I had very large people sitting next to us that made arm rest sharing a bit problematic! Took off right on time and settled in for the 4 hour flight.
I started reading and realized that I was dozing off more than comprehending anything. So I browsed the movie selection and decided on a very silly one: 80 For Brady. As much as I dislike Tom Brady, I love the combination of Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field. It was distressing watching clips of the AFC Championship game of the Pats and Steelers and also the incredible comeback of the Pats in Super Bowl LI.
After the movie, I logged on to the free 20 minute WiFi and checked email and messages. We got into Seattle about 20 minutes early and collected our luggage. Then to meet the Lyft driver for the ride to the hotel.
Staying at the Silver Cloud - Stadium, literally right across the street from T-Mobile Park.
Our room wasn’t ready since it was before noon checkout so we headed across the street to Hatback Grill and Brewery to get some lunch. It was a great choice with great service and food that hit the spot - along with a beer, It really was 3:30 p.m. our time. Earle had shrimp tacos and I had a cobb salad.
Then headed to the ticket window to get tickets for the three games. Met a delightful woman who had also been on Jay Buckley baseball tours. She has 3 to go before she has visited them all.
Back to the hotel where we found our room was ready and so we headed up and got settled in. A much need rest happened. Maybe I really did doze off for a while.
Headed out for a relatively early dinner around 6:15. Had made reservations at Elliot’s Oyster House. What a great pick. It was right on the water at one of the piers. I started out with a Seaside Martini and Earle had an NA IPA lager. We then had a sampler of oysters. So delicious. The entrées were absolutely delicious and one of the best meals I have ever enjoyed. I had grilled scallops with a baconspinach risotto with romesco sauce. Earle a seafood pasta with fin fish, mussels, clams, and prawn
No room for desset
We returned to the hotel, donned pajamas and readied for bed, It was a very long day!
